The Miami Dolphins are a National Football League (NFL) team based in Miami, Florida. The Dolphins were founded in 1965 as a member of the American Football League (AFL), playing their first season in 1966. The Dolphins are part of the American Football Conference (AFC) and are in the AFC East division. The Dolphins have played their home games at Hard Rock Stadium, in Miami Gardens, since 1986.
The Dolphins won two Super Bowls, and the team’s 1972 season is still the only time any NFL team has gone undefeated through the regular season and won the Super Bowl. The Dolphins have made 23 playoff appearances, winning 13 division titles and five conference titles. Much of the Dolphins success came under Hall of Fame coach Don Shula, who coached the team from 1970 to 1995. Shula has the most all-time wins by any NFL head coach at 328.
This season will bring higher expectations for the Dolphins. 2020 first round quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will enter his third year with the team and his first season with new head coach Mike McDaniel. After experiencing some criticism by the media, Tua is looking to prove the doubters wrong in his third season. He will be aided by new receiver additions Tyreek Hill and former Alabama teammate Jalen Waddle. The Dolphins will also boast a stellar defense featuring Xavien Howard, one of the top cornerbacks in the league.
