Arizona Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks are a professional American baseball team situated in Phoenix, Arizona. The team’s name is very usually shrunk to the abbreviation, “The D-Backs”. The Diamondbacks contend in the Western Division of Major League Baseball's National League (NL West) and call Chase Field home. No stranger to victory, the team won the World Series in 2001.

Just three years after entering the league, the Arizona Diamondbacks managed to defeat the Atlanta Braves in the National League Championship. They then prevailed over the New York Yankees and won the 2001 World Series title. The Diamondbacks have one Pennant, one World Series title, and five Western Division titles. The Arizona Diamondbacks got their start as an expansion team, and first stepped on the field in 1998.The team is one of the youngest franchises in the MLB and won the World Series faster than any other expansion franchise.

Where do the Diamondbacks play their home games?

  • Originally known as Bank One Ballpark, Chase Field opened its doors in 1998 and has been the home of the Diamondbacks since. The stadium’s name was changed due to a company merger and became known as Chase Field in 2005. Located in the hot city of Phoenix, the stadium is equipped with a roof that can be opened or closed at will, depending on the temperature and team preference. The ballpark was the first natural grass field with an open, rectangular shaped roof; however the natural grass was replaced with turf in 2019.
  • Fans often flock to the stadium to show support for the Diamondbacks. Equipped with a pool and hot tub, the Arizona Diamondbacks offer fans a truly unique experience. Kids are definitely welcomed at Diamondbacks home games and are occasionally greeted by team mascot, D. Baxter the Bobcat. Rumor has it that the Bobcat mascot was chosen because the team originally played at Bank One Ballpark (BOB). Children can find D. Baxter in his Den during the fourth inning of each home game.

What teams are in the Arizona Diamondbacks division?

  • The Diamondbacks are in the NL West division with the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres, and Colorado Rockies.
