The Atlanta Hawks are an American professional basketball team that competes in the National Basketball Association as a member of the Eastern Conference. The Hawks play their home games at State Farm Arena. The team was established in 1946 as the Buffalo Bisons. The Bisons competed in the National Basketball League. After 38 days the team relocated to Illinois, becoming the Tri-Cities Blackhawks. In 1949 the team joined the newly established NBA through the NBL-BAA merger. In 1951 the team moved to Milwaukee, adopting the name Hawks. The Hawks relocated again to St. Louis in 1955, before finally settling on Atlanta in 1967. The Hawks have won one championship, coming in 1958 while they played in St. Louis.

Led by Trae Young, the Hawks boast an exciting young core that is poised to lead playoff runs for years to come. This past season, the Hawks made the Eastern Conference Finals, falling to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games. Young is one of the league’s most skilled players, featuring slick ball handles and limitless range from three. Young’s supporting cast includes a bevy of young players who have the potential to develop into future stars. This group includes John Collins, Kevin Huerter, De’Andre Hunter, Jalen Johnson, Onyeka Okungwu, and Cam Reddish. They are also surrounded by a talented crew of veterans including Lou Williams, Clint Capela, Bogdan Bodganovich, and Danilo Gallinari. The team is coached by Nate McMillan who led the team to a 27-11 record after taking over for Lloyd Pierce midway through last season. The Hawks look to continue the success that they’ve started to build under Young and McMillan in 2021-22.
