The Brooklyn Nets are an American professional basketball team that competes in the National Basketball Association as a member of the Eastern Conference. The Nets play their home games at Barclays Center. The team was founded in 1967 as the New Jersey Americans, playing their games in the American Basketball Association. After one season in New Jersey, the team relocated to Long Island, becoming the New York Nets. Throughout their time in the ABA, the Nets won two championships. In 1976, the Nets joined the NBA as part of the NBA-ABA merger. A year later, the team moved back to New Jersey, where they played until 2012, when they relocated to Brooklynn.

The Nets are one of the favorites to win the championship this season, possessing a loaded roster with experienced coaching. The Nets have the NBA’s best big three, consisting of Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving. Durant, one of the NBA’s greatest scorers of all time, is arguably the league’s best player. The 2013-14 NBA MVP is a two time NBA Finals MVP, eleven time all star, and nine time all NBA team member. Harden is also one of the NBA’s greatest scorers. The 2017-18 NBA MVP is a nine time all star and seven time all NBA team. Irving is a seven time all star, notable for hitting the game winning shot in the 2016 NBA Finals. The Nets also possess a lot of depth including seven time all star Lamarcus Aldridge, six time all star Blake Griffin, four time all star Paul Milsap, three point contest champion Joe Harris, and veteran point guard Patty Mills. The team is coached by NBA legend Steve Nash, who’s lead assistant is two time coach of the year Mike D’antoni.
