The Guardians are an American professional baseball team based in Cleveland, Ohio. The Indians compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) Central division. Since 1994, they have played at Progressive Field. The team's spring training facility is at Goodyear Ballpark in Goodyear, Arizona. Since their establishment as a major league franchise in 1901, the team has won 10 Central Division titles, six American League pennants, and two World Series championships, (in 1920 and 1948). The team's World Series championship drought since 1948 is the longest active among all 30 current Major League teams.
As of the end of the 2020 season, the Guardians' overall record is 9,512–9,062 (.512).
The name "Indians" originated from a request by club owner Charles Somers to baseball writers to choose a new name to replace "Cleveland Naps" following the departure of Nap Lajoie after the 1914 season. It was a revival of the nickname that fans gave to the Cleveland Spiders while Louis Sockalexis, a Native American, was playing for the team. Common nicknames for the Indians include the "Tribe" and the "Wahoos", the latter referencing their former logo, Chief Wahoo. The team's mascot is named "Slider." The team changed its name to "Guardians" following the 2021 baseball season.

Where do the Cleveland Guardians play their home games?
What teams are in the Cleveland Guardians division?
After years of protest, most taking place on Opening Day, Paul Dolan, one of three team owners, announced in early 2018 that the logo would be removed from uniforms at the end of that season. Team colors will remain navy blue, red and white. Instead of the traditional chief on the Guardians' helmets and hats, a red block "C '' is present. Team management has said that it has no intention of changing the team's name. The home uniform includes a white shirt with navy details and "Guardians'' written in navy and red script across the front. Home game uniforms use gray tops. Instead of "Guardians," the tops use the word "Cleveland'' in blue lettering outlined in red.
