The Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team represents the University of Kentucky in NCAA Division I men’s basketball team. The Wildcats basketball team was established in 1903 and has been a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) since 1932. Kentucky is coached by John Calipari who enters his thirteenth season with the team. A member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Calipari is one of the winningest college basketball coaches of all time. As a college basketball coach Calipari has won fifteen conference tournaments, appeared in six final fours, and won the National Championship in 2012. Many NBA stars played college basketball for Calipari, and he helped develop some of them into the players they are today. The list includes Anthony Davis, Karl-Anthony Towns, Devin Booker, Jamal Murray, Tyler Herro, Shai Gilgeous Alexander, De’Aaron Fox, Bam Adebayo, Julius Randle, John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Derrick Rose, and many others. This season, Calipari put together another impressive recruiting class that includes two five-stars. The Wildcats signed fourteenth ranked TyTy Washington and nineteenth ranked Daimion Collins. The team also signed four star recruit Bryce Hopkins. Last season’s co-leading scorer Davion Mintz is returning for his second year with the Wildcats. After transferring from Creighton, Mintz put together his best season in 2021, averaging 11.5 points per game. In 2021, the Kentucky Wildcats look to return to the NCAA tournament with an impressive roster led by Coach Cal.
