The Kentucky Wildcats football team represents the University of Kentucky in college football at the NCAA Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level. Kentucky has been a member of the Southeastern Football Conference (SEC) since its inception in 1932. The Wildcats play their home games at Kroger Field in Lexington, Kentucky. The Wildcats have won two conference championships. They won in 1950, when Bear Bryant was the coach. The team went 11-1 that season and was widely considered the number one team in the country at the end of the season after they beat undefeated Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl. The Wildcats also won an SEC championship in 1976. In 2020 Kentucky finished with a 5-6 record. They qualified for the Gator Bowl, where they beat North Carolina State, 23-21. The Wildcats are coached by Mark Stoops, who has held the position since 2013. In addition to last season’s Gator Bowl, Stoops has led Kentucky to wins in the Belk Bowl and the Citrus Bowl.
