The Minnesota Vikings are a professional American football team based in Minneapolis. The Vikings compete in the National Football League representing the NFC North, one of the league's most storied divisions. Every season, the Vikings compete for the division against the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, and Detroit Lions. The Vikings were established in 1960 when the NFL expanded, also adding the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys began play in 1960 and the Vikings began play during the 1961 season. The Vikings got their name as an homage to the prominent Scandinavian culture in Minnesota. Throughout their history, the Vikings have won 20 division championships, and four conference titles. 2017 was the most recent time that the Vikings won the NFC North, and they made it all the way to the NFC Championship game. The Vikings defeated the New Orleans Saints in the divisional round, by completing the Minneapolis Miracle, the game’s winning touchdown. On the last play of the game, quarterback Case Keenum threw the ball downfield to Stefon Diggs, who caught the pass and scampered into the endzone as time expired.
This season the Vikings feature an exciting offense led by veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins. Last season, Cousins threw for 4,221 yards and 33 touchdowns. The offense also features all-pro running back Dalvin Cook. The Vikings also have an impressive pair of wide receivers. Adam Thielen is consistently one of the most reliable targets, and Justin Jefferson is one of the game’s exciting up and coming talents.
