The Missouri Tigers basketball team represents the University of Missouri in NCAA Division I men’s basketball. The Tigers basketball team was established in 1906 and has competed in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) since 2012. Missouri plays its home games at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Missouri. The Tigers have made twenty-eight NCAA tournament appearances, reaching the elite eight five times. Missouri has developed a significant amount of NBA talent, including 2021 sixth man of the year Jordan Clarkson, and Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. who recently signed a five year contract worth up to $207 million. The Tigers are currently coached by Cuonzo Martin, who is entering his fifth season with the team. Martin was previously the head coach of California, Tennessee, and Missouri State. Martin led the Tigers to a 16-10 record last season, earning an NCAA tournament bid as the nine seed in the West bracket. The Tigers however fell to Oklahoma in the first round. The Tigers should continue to contend in the SEC this season, especially after recruiting five three-star freshmen. Missouri looks to advance past the first round of the NCAA tournament in 2022.
