New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team that competes in the National Football League. The Saints compete in the NFC South division, which they have won in each of the last four seasons. The Saints were established in 1967, playing their home games at Tulane Stadium. In 1975, the Saints began play at the Superdome, (now Caesars Superdome) which they have called home for the last 45 years.

In 2006 the Saints hired Sean Payton as their head coach, and signed quarterback Drew Brees from the San Diego Chargers, which ushered in a new era of winning football. Under Payton, the Saints have a .638 winning percentage, which means that they have averaged more than 10 wins per season. Since 2008, the Saints have only missed the playoffs four times. The Saints best season came in 2009. They finished 13-3, which was the best record in the NFC. The Saints played the 14-2 Colts in the Super Bowl, led by the NFL MVP Payton Manning. The Colts led in the first half, but the momentum shifted after the Saints recovered an onside kick at the kickoff following halftime. This led to New Orleans taking the lead, which only grew after a late interception by Tracy Porter. This success continued under Payton, as the Saints have been perennial contenders, and Brees set record after record. Brees retired after the 2020 season and the team replaced him with Jameis Winston. Winston is a former Heisman Trophy winner and number one overall pick, who possesses the talent to one day become a quarterback of Brees’s caliber. To see how Winston fills the shoes of Drew Brees, pick up your Saints tickets here!
