Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic are an American professional Basketball team that competes in the National Basketball Association as a member of the Eastern Conference. The Magic plays their home games at the Amway Center. The team was established in 1989 as an expansion team along with the Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, and Minnesota Timberwolves. The Magic has won the Eastern Conference Championship twice. In 1995 they reached the Finals with Shaquille O’Neal and Penny Hardaway, and they achieved the feat again in 2009 with Dwight Howard.

At last season’s trade deadline the Magic traded away the face of their franchise, Nikola Vucevic. The Magic are beginning a rebuild that has been head start by the amount of young talent currently on the roster. The Magic drafted Gonzaga star Jalen Suggs with the fifth pick in this year’s draft. Suggs has the potential to be Orlando’s leading scorer for years to come. The team pairs up Suggs with last season’s first round pick, point guard Cole Anthony. Anthony had a productive rookie season, averaging 12.9 points per game. Returning from a torn ACL is fellow point guard Markelle Fultz. The former number one overall pick was beginning to see his numbers improve from a lackluster stint with the 76ers before his injury. The Magic received 2018 number seven pick Wendell Carter in the Vucevic trade. Carter is an interior stud on both sides of the ball who will be averaging a double double for the next decade. Also returning from an ACL injury is Jonathan Isaac. Isaac, was one of the league’s premiere defenders before his injury in the bubble. The Magic have another impressive rookie in Franz Wagner. The perimeter star is being paired up with his older brother Mo. The Orlando Magic looks to take the next step forward this season with a new cast of young stars.
