The Pittsburgh Steelers are an American professional football team. The Steelers compete in the National Football League as a member of the AFC North. The Steelers were founded in 1933 which makes them the NFL’s seventh oldest franchise, and the oldest one in the AFC. Since the beginning of the Super Bowl era, the Steelers have been one of the dominant franchises. Along with the New England Patriots, the Steelers hold the record for the most Super Bowls with six. They have also played in sixteen and hosted eleven Conference Championship games, both records. The Steelers most recently won the Super Bowl in 2008, defeating the Arizona Cardinals. In 2010, the Steelers reached the Super Bowl again, but fell to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. In the 1970’s the Steelers won their first Super Bowl. The offense was led by Hall of Famers Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, and Lynn Swan. The defense, led by Mean Joe Greene and many other hall of famers, earned the nickname “The Steel Curtain” due to how difficult it was to move the ball on them. Since 2004, Ben Roethlisberger had been the team’s starting quarterback until he retired in 2022. 

Mitchell Trubisky will start the year as the Steelers starting quarterback and will be aided on the offensive side by hard-nosed running back Najee Harris and lengthy wide receiver Chase Claypool.
