The Purdue Boilermakers men’s basketball team represents Purdue University in NCAA Division I men’s basketball. The Boilermakers men’s basketball team was established in 1896 and competes in the Big Ten Conference. Purdue plays its home games at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana. Purdue has made thirty-two NCAA tournament appearances, finishing as the runner-up in 1969. Purdue has produced thirty-three NBA players, including Glenn Robinson and Joe Carroll. Purdue is currently coached by Matt Painter, who is in his seventeenth season with the team. Painter is a four-time Big Ten coach of the year, and won the award for the national coach of the year in 2019. Painter led Purdue to an 18-10 record in 2021, earning an NCAA tournament bid. The Boilermakers, however, were upset by North Texas in the first round. Purdue looks to make a deep run in 2021, which is always possible with Matt Painter on the sideline.
