The UCLA Bruins men’s basketball team represents the University of California, Los Angeles in NCAA Division I men’s basketball. The Bruins basketball team was established in 1919, and competes in the Pac-12 Conference. UCLA has made fifty NCAA tournament appearances, and has won eleven national championships. Coach John Wooden led the Bruins to ten of those titles, winning them all in twelve years. The last time the Bruins won was in 1995. UCLA plays its home games at Pauley Pavillion in Los Angeles, California. UCLA has produced 99 NBA players. UCLA alumni includes NBA hall of famers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Don Barksdale, Gail Goodrich, Reggie Miller, Bill Walton, and Jamaal Wilkes. Current Bruins in the NBA include Trevor Ariza, Lonzo Ball, Jrue Holiday, Zach LaVine, Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook, and others. UCLA is currently coached by Mick Cronin, who is entering his third season with the team. Cronin was previously the head coach of Cincinnati and Murray State. Teams coached by Cronin have reached the NCAA tournament in ten consecutive seasons. Last season, Cronin led UCLA to a 22-10 record. The team was given one of the final four bids to the March Madness. The Bruins reached the final four, defeating Michigan State, BYU, Abilene Christian, Alabama, and Michigan. They faced undefeated Gonzaga in the final four, but lost the game when Jalen Suggs made a game winning shot from almost half court. UCLA is expected to be one of the top teams in the country this season. Cronin landed the number one recruiting class, and the team’s best player from a year ago, Johnny Juzang is returning.
