The Connecticut Huskies men’s basketball team represents the University of Connecticut in NCAA Division I men’s basketball. The Huskies basketball team was established in 1901 and competes in the Big East conference. UConn has made thirty-four NCAA tournament appearances, winning four national championships. UConn plays its home games at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. UConn has produced thirty-seven NBA players. This list includes Kemba Walker, Ray Allen, Richard Hamilton, Rudy Gay, Ben Gordon, Andre Drummond, Cliff Robinson, Caron Butler, Emeka Okafor and others. UConn is currently coached by Dan Hurley, who is entering his fourth season with the team. Hurley was previously the head coach of Rhode Island and Wagner. He also served as an assistant coach for Rutgers. Last season, Hurley led Connecticut to a 15-8 record. The Huskies earned an NCAA tournament bid but lost to Maryland in the first round. The Huskies are expected to improve this year with the addition of four four-star freshmen. UCONN boasts one of the most talented freshmen classes in the nation this year, and hopes to ride the fountain of youth back to the March Madness.
