The Washington Nationals are a professional Major League Baseball team in the National League’s (NL) Eastern Division. Built for success, The Washington Nationals won 4 division titles between 2012 and 2017, and ultimately won their first World Series in 2019 when they triumphed over the Houston Astros. Where do the Nationals play?

• The Nationals initially played at RFK Stadium until Nationals Park (Nat’s Park) opened its doors in 2008. Nats Park is located in Southeast Washington DC, along the Anacostia River and offers a great view. Patrons have nice views of the US Capitol, National Monument, and National Cathedral. The Park seats over 41,000 fans and was the first major sports stadium to become LEED-green building certified.

Formerly the Montreal Expos, the Washington Nationals moved to DC and established the franchise in 2005. The transition was not popular with the closest local team, the Baltimore Orioles, who became the Nationals’ biggest rival. The rivalry was actually fueled by disagreements over television privileges as opposed to issues on the field. Now known as “The Beltway Series” and “The Battle of the Beltways”, the rivals face each other in 6 (six) games each season; playing two, three-game series at each home field. In May of 2021, the Nats swept the Orioles at Nats Park in the first set of the Beltway Series. This marked the Washington Nationals’ first three-game sweep of the O’s at Nats Park. 

As of 2020, the Nationals' overall win–loss record is 4,003–4,183 (.489). The Nationals have won 5 division titles, and the world series win in 2019, was the first in Nationals history. The current manager of the Nationals is Dave Martinez.
